BEST DECISSION I EVER MADE!!! Tip-to-toe I trust them like family. I had many reservations at first but they happened to be the HIGHEST RATED AND TRUSTED when I asked Chat GPT and Google what I should do.I was a wreck try to figure out how to get my three gitls from San Diego to Hilo in Hawaii. Their pet portal is the most comprehensive and easiest to navigate. If you do not like constant communication then they are not for you. I was told before things happened what was getting ready to happen. The girls flight was going to be delayed and they would have to be boarded over night but i knew they were in good hands. I'm telling you, Ryan is the BEST and if her boss is reading this, SHE NEEDS A RAISE!! Period. Like I said, I was a mess trying to get everything but Ryan was always right there to answer my calls. If she was away from her desk she called right back. I will trust no one with flying ever unless its Starwood.

Recently relocated my 3 dogs and 1 cat from PNW to Hawaii. Starwood was beyond amazing. From start to finish they were transparent, organized and professional. I had support with all necessary paperwork, kennel sizing, and day of travel. Our coordinator Ryan was always available to answer questions and provide reassurance. She was incredibly detailed, communicative, and always made me feel like my babies were in great hands. Our day of transporters were amazing too. Would not hesitate to recommend!

Starwood was AMAZING every step of the way for my move from the east coast to Hawaii. I have two dogs and knew there were restrictions in Hawaii that I was not familiar with so I reached out to Starwood for a quote and a brief consult and from there they helped calm any anxiety or nerves I had about my dogs flying that long! I honestly don’t know if I could have gotten all the paperwork and steps right without the help of Ryan. Thank you again to your team for all of your help!

Starwood made moving our puppy Finn from California to O'ahu a breeze. Their portal was super helpful, and even our vet loved their pre-filled forms. When a paperwork hiccup arose upon landing in Hawai'i, the Starwood team handled it flawlessly. They quickly resolved the issue with the Department of Agriculture, ensuring Finn's immediate release as planned. We were so relieved to reunite! Finn is happy and settling in great. We're so glad we used Starwood; their service was worth the expense for a smooth and successful pet relocation.

When you move long distances, with pets, you may chose to do things the easy way or the hard way. The latter involves you having to do everything on your own, running the risk of missing a step or doing completely wrong. The easy way involves siring Starwood Pet Travel.
Starwood will coordinate with your vet to make sure all information is correct and that any required paperwork has been submitted correctly and on time. They are also the ones to walk pet through Ag inspection, offloading from arriving flight and back onto any connecting flights, if a multi flight itinerary. Sage, our coordinator, was so understanding in my being an antsy pet parent when I would think of some potential issue (in my head), assuring me all was going smoothly. She also was accessible when I was freaking out when Aloha Cargo mistakenly told me out 3 pets were not on the flight I was advised they had been scheduled on, it was just that the manifest had not been updated (no fault of Starwood Pet Travel’s).
The crates we got through Starwood were nice, sturdy, and roomy, and my husband and I loved getting photo updates each step of the way; our dogs and cat left our home in Scottsdale on December 18th, and I had them on Maui on the 20th. Starwood also made sure to stress to all parties handling our dogs were all aware that they are very reactive to one another, and knew to not ever let them be out of crates at the same time.
We cannot say enough positive things about them, and if we ever move back to the mainland we will definitely be utilizing them again.

Planning a move to Hawaii with your pet? With its breathtaking beaches, lush landscapes, and aloha spirit, Hawaii is paradise—for both humans and animals. But because Hawaii is the only U.S. state free of rabies, the import process for dogs and cats is more complex than domestic travel. Fortunately, with proper planning, your pet can skip quarantine entirely through the Direct Airport Release (DAR) program.
Here’s everything you need to know to move your pet to the Aloha State.
Hawaii enforces strict entry requirements for pets to protect its unique ecosystem and rabies-free status. Pets that meet all requirements can often qualify for Direct Airport Release, allowing them to go home with you immediately after landing.
Eligibility for Direct Airport Release (DAR)
To avoid quarantine, your pet must meet all of the following conditions:
Microchip
Your pet must be microchipped before the rabies vaccine. This chip will be scanned upon arrival.
Rabies Vaccinations
Your pet must have:
Two rabies vaccinations in their lifetime
The second vaccine administered more than 30 days before arrival
Both vaccines documented and current (not expired)
FAVN Rabies Antibody Titer Test
A FAVN blood test must be performed by an approved lab (e.g., Kansas State or DOD Lab).
The result must show a level of ≥0.5 IU/mL
The test must be completed at least 30 days before arrival
After passing the FAVN, a 120-day waiting period must pass before your pet can enter Hawaii under DAR
Documentation
All required documents must be submitted to the Animal Quarantine Station (AQS) in Honolulu at least 10 days before arrival:
Dog & Cat Import Form AQS-279
Original rabies certificates (2)
FAVN test results
Microchip verification
Payment for DAR ($185)
If your pet does not meet all DAR requirements, they may be subject to:
5-Day-Or-Less Program: $244 fee; pet must remain at the quarantine facility in Honolulu
Full 120-Day Quarantine: $1,080 fee; for pets that do not meet FAVN or vaccination timelines
Starwood can help avoid this outcome by ensuring all deadlines and forms are submitted correctly.
Pets eligible for Direct Airport Release must arrive at one of these airports:
Honolulu (HNL)
Kahului, Maui (OGG)
Kona, Hawai‘i Island (KOA)
Lihue, Kauai (LIH)
Important: Not all airlines offer DAR services at every airport. Contact your airline or Starwood to ensure your pet’s flight is DAR-eligible.

Assistance with health certificates, import certificates, and other travel documents needed
